Allerion’s Geotechnical Engineering and Environmental department is continuing to grow and we are in need of a Project Manager to grow into a Division Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a combination of field work, design work, staff management and the development of a department.  Allerion Consulting is seeking a California Licensed Professional Engineer with experience in geotechnical investigations, preparing reports, managing clients and performing project management on projects throughout California. The purpose of this position is to support existing business and assist with growth and diversification of our current business model.

Essential Functions:

Participate on teams in the performance of building diagnostics projects that include, but are not limited to, building enclosure assessments, roofing, façade, waterproofing, litigation support, field testing, and distress studies.

Perform and/or direct field investigations, including geotechnical drilling, field investigations, identify laboratory testing and develop foundation design requirements.

Work with project team design professionals to develop cost effective recommendations and manage the client relationship through to special inspections and materials testing.

Participate in development of peer reviews of construction documents, protocols, scopes of work, and other similar documents associated with geotechnical and environmental disciplines.

Prepare technical reports, develop technical presentations, and participate in the development of other technical content in conformance with Allerion’s quality and professional standards and policies.

Assist with business development including working with new clients, furthering relationships with existing clients, participating in professional organizations, and actively participating in the implementation of marketing strategies.

Project management on small-to-mid size projects including establishing project teams, objectives, schedules, project-specific safety plans, and management of project deliverables.

Develop scopes of service, establish project budgets, prepare proposals, and participate in client presentations.

Experience:

Candidate must have a minimum of five years experience performing geotechnical engineering services.

Candidate should have at least two years of experience with Environmental Site Assessments.

Candidate should have experience work on a variety of construction projects including civil, structures, WWTP, WTP, mid-rise buildings and deep foundations

Licenses and Certifications:

Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California

Registered Geotechnical Engineer in the State of California (Preferred)

Certifications related to geotechnical engineering and/or environmental studies

A CA Driver’s License is required.

We are currently seeking Senior Building Envelope and Roofing Inspectors for our Roseville, California office. This position will service the Northern California region. Primary duties will include performing building inspections on roofs of various construction types, waterproofing systems, air barriers, and other similar systems designed to protect against water and air intrusion into buildings. Building Envelope inspections will include EFIS, metal cladding and various window cladding systems. Some travel may be required and will be predominately field located.

Essential Functions:

For this position the employee will be providing quality control testing and IBC special inspection duties for commercial, retail, educational, low to high-rise, and manufacturing construction projects. Successful candidates must perform on site observations/inspections to confirm compliance with the local building code and project contract documents, collect samples per ASTM and project requirements, perform specific QC tests on construction materials and building components per ASTM and ACI standards, and maintain detail records of observations, inspections and test results. Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e. employee is in the field as the Company’s representative), but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.

Candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience in all types of jurisdictional building inspection.

Quality Control Manager (QCM) position entails the implementation, documentation, and execution of the quality control system of construction projects and creating and maintaining a safe work environment. In this role the candidate would ensure the project complies with applicable plans, standards, specifications, and construction practices. This role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection of the work flow process to ensure quality is maintained. College Degree and experience working on federal construction projects is required. Experience should include overseeing all quality aspects of the project, and implementing the USACE’s three phase inspection process.

Essential Functions:

– Quality control oversight on construction/environmental projects

 Ensure all work is in compliance with contract requirements

 Review shop drawings for conformance with project specifications

 Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the  approved submittal

 Prepare daily QC reports and submit on a daily basis to the contracting officer

 Timely completion and collection of inspection reports, as required

 Maintain project master schedule using CPM techniques

 Prepare weekly and monthly quality assurance reports

 Inspect field sites and identify any problems or inaccuracies

 Lead and evaluate employee and sub-contractor performance

 Remove individuals whose work does not comply with contract plans and specifications

 Maintaining a tracking system to monitor identified deficiencies and implement plans to ensure their resolution

Required Skills:

 Experience with the Army Corps of Engineers and Federal contracting is highly desired

Duties include performing field and plant inspections during the production and placement of asphalt concrete, portland cement concrete, and other construction related material such as oil binder, aggregates, cements, and admixtures. Inspectors will also visit quarries and mine pits to witness material source sampling, stockpiling and testing samples of binders, cement admixtures and other related materials.

Skills & Abilities:

Knowledgeable on the placement, sampling, and testing of materials used in state transportation projects. 

Knowledgeable of material testing requirements and QA/QC frequencies as they relate to Caltrans Special Provisions, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual.

Familiarity with weighing and batching equipment. 

Ability to interpret material test data, provide analytical determination of material acceptability, and visually recognize basic material properties throughout production and placement. 

Ability to prepare material inspection and testing reports and back up calculations.

Ability to work independently, make clear recommendations, prepare concise reports/documentation, and work constructively with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Have a minimum of five years of current experience in the inspection, sampling and testing of materials used on state transportation projects.

Certifications:

Possess current California Test Method certifications for materials typically utilized in state transportation projects including CTM 105, CTM 125, CTM 201, CTM 202, CTM216, CTM217, CTM226, CTM227, CTM231, CTM 308, CTM 309, CTM 382, CTM504, CTM518, CTM523, CTM524, CTM533, CTM539, CTM540, CTM552, CTM556, CTM 557.

 

AASHTO – T11, T27, T84, T85, T96, T166, T176, T209, T275, T308, T329 preferred, ACI Field – Grade 1 and ACI Aggregate – Grade 1 certifications preferred. NICET Levels 1-2 – Soils, asphalt, concrete, highway, highway materials preferred. Experienced in performing compaction testing and certified in Nuclear Gauge Operator Training.

 

Possess a valid California driver’s license

Have the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs

Have experience in material testing in a QA role for Caltrans or local agencies
